We offer a wealth of opportunity to people interested in joining HSBC. Diversity is central to our brand: we embrace differences in the workforce and recognise the unique contribution each individual makes to our business success. We also aim to recruit the best people to help meet our business objectives and to develop those already with us to meet their full potential. Our training and development opportunities and performance management system help encourage the realisation of this potential.
At the same time, we are decisively addressing the historic inequalities created by the previous exclusion of blacks, females and people with disabilities from opportunities in employment, training, development and career advancement through our Employment Equity Plan.
Graduate Trainee Programme
HSBC runs a Graduate Trainee programme, for which we source talented graduates from local universities. The programme starts in January every year and continues for 18 months, aimed at providing the graduates with practical work experience in their chosen field. Graduate trainees are considered for all areas of our business, including Global Markets, Global Banking (incl Corporate Finance), Trade & Supply Chain, Commercial Banking, Finance, etc. For most of our Graduate Trainees, this programme provides them with an entry level career opportunity to join HSBC.
